Tetrapods
A tetrapod's shape is designed to dissipate the force of incoming waves by allowing water to flow around rather than against it. (+)
The shape of the tetrapods also reduce displacement by allowing a random distribution of tetrapods to mutually interlock. (+)
The disadvantages of tetrapods are that they are expensive to construct and maintain. (-)
Tetrapods are four-legged conctrete structures that interlock to protect the coastline.
